Forget Global Warming: Welcome to the New Ice Age

This is the headline in today's Canadian National Post. In a story under the byline of Lorne Gunter, the "(s)now cover over North America and much of Siberia, Mongolia and China is greater than at any time since 1966." After making points about the severity of this winter around the northern hemisphere, he goes on to state that "(i)n just the first two weeks of February, Toronto received 70 cm of snow, smashing the record of 66.6 cm for the entire month set back in the pre-SUV, pre-Kyoto, pre-carbon footprint days of 1950."

This is undoubtedly coming as distressing news to algorians of every stripe, especially to the Canada government, who've pinned many of their capitalism-destroying policies 'pon their ability to uphold their phony global warming "snow job" and keep its shaky foundations from showing.

Apparently, the world will remain cool enough for hockey at least one more year.

The news story continues:

"OK, so one winter does not a climate make. It would be premature to claim an Ice Age is looming just because we have had one of our most brutal winters in decades.

"But if environmentalists and environment reporters can run around shrieking about the manmade destruction of the natural order every time a robin shows up on Georgian Bay two weeks early, then it is at least fair game to use this winter's weather stories to wonder whether the alarmist are being a tad premature."

The discriminating analyst can determine the falsehoods of the algorians by simple observing the false hysteria in their arguments, the nature of their proposed solutions and the blind anger in their denouncing of those who dare deny their points. But, it's nice to see nature take its course.

"Oleg Sorokhtin, a fellow of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, shrugged off manmade climate change as 'a drop in the bucket.' Showing that solar activity has entered an inactive phase, Prof. Sorokhtin advised people to 'stock up on fur coats.'"
Not that I'd exactly welcome another "Little Ice Age," like the one that ended around 1850,
but the point is, these variations are caused by solar activity (or inactivity) not 4x4 pickups and suv's.

Just like I've been writing for years.

They've killed Freedom! Those bastards!

Warm regards,
Col. Hogan

Seems more and more folks around the planet will be yearning for a bit of global warming eh. Perhaps that's why al is keeping a low profile these days.

Another issue which will come back to bite us in the hind quarters is the use of corn to make fuel. Instead of having plenty of food it will have been consumed as gasoline thinner. When the little ice age takes away the growing season it will take more food from the table and no matter what it costs; if it's not available some folks will go without.

Amazingly with these articles appearing now even in the mainstream media, the sheep keep following the ruts left behind by their wanderings for days past. You still have governments talking about draconian emissions schemes which will destroy economies.
It has become the new religion and its devotees get such a warm, fuzzy feeling (pardon the pun) that they just can't give it up in spite of being faced with cold, hard facts.

MK,

Sounds like some Canadians wouldn't mind a little global warming about now!

TF,

I have a few pets, including some birds. I went to the bird store today to buy some seed. The seed has gone up 15% in the past two weeks. The bird guy says he can't even get corn (in five or ten pound bags) any more.

This ethanol thing is just stupid!

Aurora,

The algorian true believers will continue to holler "global warming" even as they freeze to death in the dark. We have to make every effort not to get caught up in their insanity.

Yeah, out here too CH, i know we down under have it really soft when it comes to weather, but this morning as i stepped out and felt the cold nipping persistently at myself, i was forced to step back and return with an additional layer. It's supposed to hot out here, this time of the year.

So if the Canadians could send us some of the warming once their done as well, that'd be swell.

MK,

I once read an article by a fellow who rode a Harley across Australia, coast to coast. This was about ten or so years ago. Not only did he have to install an oversized gas tank because of long distances between gas stations, but he said he encountered mostly heat--sometimes over 130 degrees F. As I recall, he rode across pretty far north.

I didn't know it was ever cold in Oz, except in the South.

That's why they have changed referring to the 'phenomena' as 'global climate change' from 'global warming' which is how they change the PC speak whenever one of their new tags comes under attack. I'm pretty sure 'global climate change' is still 'proper use', although that could change any day now.

Part of the 'significance' is that now ANY change in climate is still linked to their former 'global warming' theory, so that if you have one year that trashes a 100 year trend, it is still 'global warm... er "global climate change" that is operative.

That still doesn't mean they aren't going to have to rework all of those computer 'models' though, once again, dammit! Lol.

Kent,

I understand, but I prefer usually to continue to refer to it as "global warning" to let them know I ain't buying it. The algorians' entire religion is made up of whole cloth, and if pressed, I could probably still find the essays that prove it (I read them some time ago).

We could start with Critchon's book, "State of Fear."

Their attempt to convert "global warming" to "global climate change" says nothing (as you say), since global climate change is the norm.

Now, if the true believers can be debriefed.....

Yeah, me too. We could even go further back and call it the 'coming ice age'.... the solutions are no different - more socialism.

Kent,

Yeah. Whether it'll get warmer or colder in the coming decades, the algorians don't know what'll happen, nor will they be able to do anything about it.

The Nobel committee has embarrassed itself once again by giving Algore the Peace Prize.
