Gun Phobia, Again

The government children's prisons, for many years, have subtly, and not so subtly, been running a program of fear inducement against guns. The leftist news media have been doing the same thing, in the way they frame stories involving guns. It's worse in some parts of the country than in others, and here in the Stalag, it approaches utter horror at even the mention of an individual carrying a firearm.

Not so bad in other areas. In the rural and small town areas of the midwest and south, for example, the sight of an individual with a pistol on his hip is less disturbing than seeing a man in public without a shirt.

Apparently we have to add West Allis, Wisconsin to the phobic parts of the country. According to a story at Freedom's Phoenix:

The West Allis police department sent two squads to investigate, and found Brad (Krause) in his yard, minding his own business planting trees. From behind him, police rushed him, yelling, "Don't move!" while bearing down on him with their weapons drawn.

This after a neighbor (a very poor neighbor, one might assert) complained that Krause was carrying a gun and he wanted something done about it.

Since it's not illegal to openly carry a firearm in Wisconsin, the police--holding Krause in handcuffs in his front yard for forty-five minutes--stood around trying to figure out how they could arrest him. Checking with a supervisor provided a solution: "claim his action of carrying a weapon is disorderly conduct, and haul him down to the station. His firearm was taken away from him without a receipt, and it has not been returned."

Since Krause had a voice recorder running, and recorded the events as they happened, I'm led to suspect this is the beginning of a test case.

It'll be a test case I look forward to following since, as you know, I'm of the opinion that many egregious crimes, both by criminals and by government (oops, I repeat myself!), could be thwarted by an armed population. 'Twould make our environment much safer.

Krause will be in court in West Allis, Wisconsin tomorrow at 8:00am.

They've killed Freedom! Those bastards!

Warm regards,

Col. Hogan

That stuff just pisses me off. But, that's why people stick their .38 stubbies in a fanny pack while they're wandering about the yard or taking their morning walk.

Christiansen told me about a similar case in Ohio, where it is also not illegal to open carry.

What a difference from thirty years ago when Me and B Gonzalez, just having returned from a war on beer cans in the desert, began pulling rifles and shotguns out of the El Camino. Fullerton cop craps in his pants because we're in Tokers Town at Gonzalez girlfriend's place. Guess they thought we were there for the next gang fight.

The cop was so ignorant he didn't know how to measure the length of a shotgun barrel and he was sure he had us with a sawed off. This despite the fact that it was the exact same model he had in the front seat of the cruiser.

He was all polite and shit until back up arrived.

They ultimately called the Sergeant who decided the shotgun was legal and they sent us on our way (after hassling us for an hour). But that's a long way from trying to figure out a way to arrest us.

They never looked in the carry on bag sitting on the roof of the car with the loaded .357 in it. Gonz said they couldn't legally look because it wasn't in the car. [shrugs]

Perhaps when that sniveling neighbor of his gets a criminals gun in his face, he might figure out the stupidity of his own thinking, i doubt it though, when that sort of thing happens, usually the cretins are whining for more gun-control.

I hope this fellow sues them and takes em' to the cleaners C.H. Bastards indeed.

....especially the way some of the bellies look around my little southern town. A gun is way less scary.

But hey, at least we can still drive around with open containers and a gun rack in the truck! The Sheriff probably wouldn't even stop you, 'cept to ask how you did on opening weekend of duck season.

TWC,

In the late 1960's and early 1970's, I drove a pickup. At the time, I kept a rifle rack in the back window to store rolled up plans. At various times, mostly on weekends, I'd put a couple of rifles in there with no bolts and no clips.

Surprisingly, I was never pulled over. I guess that was then and this is now.

MK,

The fellow who does something like that to me will live with several very painful and expensive accidents over a period of time. Given normal expectations here in the Stalag, though, I wouldn't carry a weapon illegally. Never. No, not me. Uh-uh!

LC,

That's part of the reason why I'll be leaving the Stalag whenever I leave my current employment

That is a funny take on my situation...

Tree planter,

If you're the guy from the news story, kudos and best of luck kicking their butts in court!
