Guber Schwarzengroper, You're Fired!

A couple of weeks ago, an essay by L Neil Smith in The Libertarian Enterprise planted an idea in my mind. After a short germination, I wrote on my facebook page a quip to the effect that I'm ready to sign a recall petition to remove Guber Schwarzenegger from office. Some months ago, the state's prison guard union attempted a recall petition though: In spite of all the union's attorneys, the petition proved to be, according to the Guber's Attorney General, improperly formatted and thus thrown out of consideration.

I don't know what was the real reason behind the recall, but I would've signed it for the same reasons as those I hold now: He campaigned on a platform of cutting spending, cutting taxes and fiscal responsibility. After a couple of minor defeats by the state Legislature, he backed off, reversed course and started signing spending bills to a degree only dreamed of by his recalled predecessor, Grey Davis.

Today, it has occurred to me that Guber Schwarzenegger really should be removed from office. Once a very successful actor, he has reduced himself to sell-put, liar, cheat and thief. I've posted a group on my facebook page to that effect. Since I have no political expertise, and little money to invest in such an endeavor, I have no idea how far this will go. Or how much of myself I'm willing to invest in such a (ideally) needless pursuit.

People like the Guber should never be elected to political office. If more Californians made themselves economically and politically literate, they never would be.

People shouldn't be afraid of their governments; governments should be afraid of their people.

Warm regards,

Col. Hogan
Stalag California

Hi Wayne! I love your blog, it's lovely, and I agree wholeheartedly that Arnie should have stuck with making awesome action packed movies...he sucks as a politician, but then look who he married...

Even though I'm not a Californian, I am most disappointed in Arnold. I love his movies, and really thought he'd be conservative and stay small government minded. But he seems to be seriously uninformed or something.

I guess it goes to show politics and show business don't mix. It's people like him that let down the conservative movement.

Alana,

Welcome! I expect that Maria has far more influence on him than we've been given to believe. She's turned him into a real girlie-man.

Chatelaine,

I listened fairly closely to his remarks during the recall period, and got enough out of him to decide not to vote for him. I never thought he was philosophically grounded. He's proved me right many times over.

MK,

Like I said above, he has no firm philosophical principles, and reacts to the squeaky wheels. I'd guess the squeakiest one is his wife, a somewhat prettier Ted Kennedy. He seems to have fooled many, but I never thought he was conservative.

Glad to see your return. I'll go to your blog shortly. I'm guessing our friend Aurora is on a long walkabout?

Arnold never professed to be a conservative (a little like Dubya). He did, however, appear to back peddle on his fiscal responsibility talk. Maria is definitely out there in lala land.

BC,

I don't remember if Arnold ever called himself a conservative, but he did call himself a Republican. While there are many so-called "country club Republicans," Arnold styled himself from the beginning as cutting both spending and taxes. Like Guber Pete Wilson before him, he is now guilty of saddling us with the largest tax increase in California history.

Of course, the state's Democrats resisted every proposed cut in either taxes or spending, but Arnold was a very easy lay. A round-heeled girlie man, one might call him.

The prison guards are a bunch of bastards as well. Aligning with them is an alliance with Satan. They ARE the problem (along with the teacher's unions).

TWC,

I agree, and I wouldn't form any kind of alliance with them. Just pointing out a perceived bit of corruption in the state attorney general's office: If union-paid attorneys can't get it right, who could? Makes me think that Arnold's pet attorney general is taking care of him.

Jorge Juaqin Arbusto was a great teacher, eh?

Steve,

Indeed. Even now, after the speeches at CPAC, it's obvious that many Republicans haven't learned anything. RNC Chairman Steele, who has since apologized, criticized the fact that Rush Limbaugh wants B Hussein to fail in socializing America (which logically makes one think Steele favors socialism).

Much of the news media has made the same critique--but we already know their philosophical standing.

Often as I strongly disagree with Limbaugh, I agree with him on this: I don't want B Hussein to turn America into a socialist state, either.
