Long Live the King!

Today, Nicolas Sarcozy was elected President of France, defeating Socialist Segolene Royal by a wide margin. Story here. "You can count of France as a friend," Sarcozy said to America during his victory speech.

I find that comforting.

One thing I noticed: the defeated Mme Royal bears a uncanny resemblance to a certain American socialist: Ms Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor and publisher of The Nation, what one might consider a very leftist-oriented political magazine, and the woman for whom the famous New Orleans Hurricane was named.

I wonder if they're actually both the same person....

France's loss is the world's gain.

Warm regards,

I think most Americans are heaving a great sigh of relief, even the Lefties who must be perplexed, despite their evident self-hatred at the level of anti-Americanism out there. Let's hope he's all we want him to be.
Mme Royal was certainly a piece of work, wasn't she? Almost calling for violence once she knew she had been defeated. So typical of the undemocratic Left!

As seen in countless instances, leftists pay lip service to democracy whenever it favors their cause, but abandon it vehemently whenever it appears to favor individual liberty.

We libertarians just don't know what's good for us!
