Another Eight Victims of Gun Phobia

I wish I didn't have all these murders 'pon which to comment. I'd rather comment 'pon cases of individuals successfully defending themselves against attacks by craven savages like Robert Hawkins.

Nebraska's laws allow for concealed weapons carry with a permit (any restrictions 'pon one's right to keep and bear arms is unConstitutional--a requirement for a permit shouldn't be imposed). Theoretically, any individual might have been able to stop this murderer, had he been carrying a handgun. What prevented any chance of this is the Westroads shopping center's policy not to allow weapons inside the mall property. Hawkins obviously didn't heed the signs admonishing that no firearms are to be carried inside the mall.

Aside from the killer himself, who mercifully offed himself after his rampage, liability belongs to the Von Maur mall management for creating a "gun free zone," guaranteeing that any insane monster wishing to commit murder uninterrupted, will be able to do so.

The mall posted signs at the entrances which, in effect, said, "If you want to kill a few people in the mall, come ahead. You will be unopposed."And Hawkins was unopposed. He was only limited by the extent of his bloodthirstiness and the amount of ammunition he carried.

John Lott, Jr has made an undeniable case for legalization of concealed weapons carry in his books, "More Guns, Less Crime" and "The Bias Against Guns." We ignore our own self-protection against these loons at our own peril.

They've killed Freedom! Those bastards!

Warm regards,

It is high time we end victim disarmament zones. It is now well proven that they only serve to disarm the victims, not the criminals.

I had a feeling this would be that case, but i thought i'd wait until we hear for sure before commenting on this, thanks CH.

I have cross posted, and linked back to you as well.

If people wish to go unarmed they could always wear a t-shirt with 'I'm nnarmed and won't defend myself' printed on it in large type.

The crims would leave them alone then- wouldn't they?

Dustin,

Just so. It's obvious from their actions that politicians identify more with thieves, muggers, rapists and murderers than with the rest of us.

MK,

Thanks for the cross-post. In most cases, the gun phobics are in government, but in this case, they're in the private sector (probably victims of the government's children's prison system).

Oswald,

Yeah, like the people of the "religion of peace" do in France and Germany, etc.

It seems like somebody could have simply walked up behind the perp and flipped him over the balcony railing onto his head a floor or two down below. After all, a rifle isn't all that easy to maneuver in close quarters.

Dustin's comment is right on. These gun-free zones don't stop the loonies at all, so what's the point of them? Completely crazy.
Good post, Col. I saw the link over at MK's and thought I'd mosey on over and check it out.

TWC,

The current policy taught in the government's children's prisons is to never fight back against danger. Since my youth, policy has been "duck and cover and die begging for mercy on your knees."

As author L Neil Smith often says, and I often repeat, "Leftists would rather see a woman lying in the mud, raped and strangled with her own pantyhose, than see her with a handgun in her purse."

The same thing, obviously applies to men, as noted by TWC above, that no one made any effort to stop or disarm the bastard from behind, instantly as he showed the weapon.

Easy for me to say--I've never been in a like situation, but you see my point.

I'm wondering...if a thinkin' man would have that pic made into palm size stickers he could walk into these wimpy-assed places and right under the sign that says no weapons allowed, just slap one on. Better even...slap it on top of the evil post. I'm wondering how many lawsuits are going to hit that Mall for failure to provide a safe environ.

You can bet your patootie that Luby's will never be a weapons free zone after Killeen

Col. Hogan said...

I remember Luby's. I remember thinking, "Why the hell doesn't somebody have a gun, and make strawberry jam outa the bastards head before he can get too far?"

I thought the same thing after I heard about the killings at the McDonald's in San Ysidro.

And several times since.

If you rememeber Luby's you will remember that the girl whose Mom & Dad were killed had left her sidearm in the car because they had a sign....No weapons allowed.
